Cabinet to Coat Rack

I love repurposing reclaimed wood. The best place to find it is someone's garage or barn. I particularly love old cabinet doors. They are already a great size for repurposing and if they have been painted like these, they already have a great chippy look. I got these at an estate sale (along with a bunch of other reclaimed wood!).

We started by cleaning the cabinet door. We smoothed out any chipping paint and sealed it with a coat of Varathane Crystal Clear Polyurethane Satin finish.

Hobby Lobby has a wide variety of decorative knobs and hooks. We selected these bird knobs. They are supposed to be drawer pulls, but they had enough depth to function as a coat hook.

Three were perfect for this size of cabinet door.

The chippiness of the wood and the finish on the birds complement each other well. We added D-hooks on the back to hang the coat rack. This upcycle was so simple! It took less than an hour!
