Last week I was on an outing with my God-daughter. We stopped at a garage sale and she spied this paper towel holder.
She thought she could do something with it. We added it to our purchases and yesterday we had a "project day".
She got to work and disassembled it. She wanted to do something with the back portion of this. As she disassembled it, rather than discarding the remaining parts, she also started to think about what she wanted to do with them (stay tuned for a future post.
She sanded it a bit and then painted it with Oatmeal color of Folk Art chalk paint. She wet distressed it as she was painting.
After browsing through several options, she decided this would be the perfect art to add to her creation.
She sized it to fit and created a vinyl stencil with a Silhouette Cameo 3.
Since the color under the Oatmeal paint was black, she decided to use black for the word "gather."
And this is the finished piece! I love she had the vision to reimagine the paper towel holder as something else. We did some other projects I will share in future posts. Stay tuned!
